Chateau Elan Introduces New Line of Wine-Based Gelato Flavors

Why order a glass of wine, when you could get it by the scoop? At Chateau Elan, wine and gelato have long been the unofficial mascots of summer, and how they are teaming up to create one, boozy bite. Introducing their new line of wine-based gelato, Chateau Elan’s hottest mashup kicks off with a trio of mouthwatering flavors - Strawberry Basil Brut, Red Wine Sangria, and the Foxy Fresh.

Each treat, which contains roughly the same amount of wine flavor as a 5-ounce glass, will be served from the resort's Le Glacier gelato car and is available in either a sugar cone, waffle cone or classic bowl n' spoon. Peddling around the property, guests can often catch Chateau Elan's gelato cart stationed by the resort's pool, in front of the winery, and on the patio of Le Petit Cafe.

Unlike your average frozen treat, this gelato works by combining Chateau Elan's namesake wine with a creamy sugar base, which is then swirled with ingredients like fresh fruit and herbs. Together, the mixture is all given an arctic blast of liquid nitrogen - providing an almost instant freeze. The need for this level of intense chill? Wine doesn't freeze at normal temperatures, even when combined with other agents.

Enter. High Road Creamery.

Based out of Marietta, Georgia, High Road Creamery specializes in creative kitchen solutions and found that at -300 degrees Fahrenheit, liquid nitrogen froze and infused the resort's wine with its creamy counterpart. Founded in 2010, High Road Creamery likes to think their products are equal parts science and magic - and we couldn't agree more.

Strawberry Basil Brut starts with a Chateau Elan Brut champagne-infused vanilla base and is swirled with herbaceous basil and fresh strawberries. Starting with a Duncan Creek base, the Red Wine Sangria gelato is wonderfully deep in flavor. It's rich and creamy and tastes just like a classic red wine sangria with hints of fresh orange. The Foxy Fresh, is a bright and summery new staple. with a beautiful ruby color, the flavor combines citrusy lemongrass with tart pomegranate.

Tastebuds, you've officially been warned.
